An Attitude of Gratitude

I don’t know about you, but some of my happiest points in life are when I am at peace with what I have and with myself.  I love this quote…

“He who is not contented with what he has, would not be contented with what he would like to have.” – Socrates

Don’t get me wrong, it’s wonderful to set goals and want more out of life, but expressing gratitude and learning to be content with your current circumstance is a huge part of being able to move forward and obtain more.  Depending upon your beliefs – maybe it’s God bringing you blessings or you are attracting positive things from the Universe, or maybe a combination of both – no matter which you choose, you will see that the key to receiving more is to give more and express gratitude.

“Many people who order their lives rightly in all other ways are kept in poverty by their lack of gratitude.” – Wallace Wattles

I recently read the book, “The Secret”, by Rhonda Byrne, and there is a chapter that discusses the power of gratitude. In this chapter, Lee Brower, a Wealth Trainer and Specialist/Author/Teacher, explains…

“I think everybody goes through times when they say, “Things aren’t working right,” or, “Things are going bad.”  Once, when there were some things going on in my family, I found a rock, and I just sat holding it.  I took this rock, I stuck it in my pocket, and I said, “Every time I touch this rock I’m going to think of something that I’m grateful for.”  So every morning when I get up in the morning, I pick it up off the dresser, I put it in my pocket, and I go through the things I’m grateful for.  At night, what do I do?  I empty my pockets, and there it is again.”

I absolutely love this idea!  Today is the day that I’m going to choose my “Gratitude Rock” and begin being extra mindful of the things I’m grateful for.  You will see that a lot of what I blog and post about revolves around chasing your dreams and inspiring you to get the most out of life; however, I do believe that the root of happiness is a grateful heart.

Choose your rock and watch your life become more satisfying and fulfilling as you thank God and the Universe for what you’ve already been blessed with.  When you make room for gratitude, you make room for more blessings!
